About Titti Bjernér

I was born in Tokyo in 1974 and moved to Stockholm at the age of 12.

My parents are journalists and they have taught me to question society and to have my own independent opinions regardless of what people around me might think.

That philosophy and way of thinking has naturally colored my work. Consequently, my free-thinking life philosophy has a strong influence on my work and I think that is why I always have a definite purpose with everything I produce.

Even as a child, my family and I used to travel a lot and I had the privilege to visit several parts of the world from an early age. These experiences influence the way I reflect on things and observe different cultures.

I started making jewellery already in high school and spent most of my time in the metal workshop at school.

After high school I opened a combined café and gallery in Stockholm and on my free time I worked as an apprentice for a silversmith.

Apart from designing and making jewellery I have always liked to work with various projects thereby using my creativity in many different areas of work.

My two children Theo and Älva were born -95 and-97.

When my youngest was 1 year old, I started studying metal design at Nyckelvikskolan and continued with the same subject at Konstfack University College of Arts in Stockholm.

I graduated from Konstfack in May 2006. And since my graduation I have been working from my own studio in Stockholm.

My aim is to reach out to all kinds of different people with my unconventional ideas.

I try not to be placed in a specific category and use a somewhat subtle form of jewellery design expecting to get the attention of various kinds of people even outside the jewellery art world.

Jewellery can be used to communicate valuable messages in an effective way without the use of advertisement or exhibitions. They are communicating just by being used.

Wearers of jewellery often tend to have very personal and close to the symbols of their attributes. And the owner’s purpose of wearing pieces of  jewellery is

often to  project their own personal values and opinions.

Therefore , I find , making jewellery is especially interesting for the use of spreading my own individual values and opinions.

I hope you appreciate what I do.

Thank you.
